ACT

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) works to eliminate the useless struggle to avoid or try to control negative emotions and experiences. ACT metaphor, paradox, and experiential exercises promote healthy contact with those thoughts, feelings, memories, and physical sensations that feel uncomfortable and are feared. The aim is to reach a place of psychological flexibility where there is acceptance of these private events and a willingness to experience all emotions and situations.

Using ACT, I encourage you to make contact with the present moment and consciously step out of repeated patterns of negative behaviour that keep you feeling stuck. With mindfulness and defusion techniques, I work to bring you closer to your personal values and towards living a values based life. I invite you to commit to necessary behaviour changes that will facilitate the pursuit of your goals.
