Psychosexual

Psychosexual therapy is a specialised form of counselling used to treat all issues relating to sex; sexual function and dysfunction, sexual relationships, sexual identity, sexual abuse, porn addiction, compulsive sexual behaviour, loss of sexual desire, fantasy, kink and sexual diversity.

The psychosexual approach is a 3-part model in which therapists begin by taking an in-depth and robust assessment of clients’ sexual history. The physical, emotional and social aspects of sexual difficulties are then explored. You may be given exercises to work on inbetween sessions.

The College of Sex and Relationship Therapists recommends that you see a GP about any physical sexual problems prior to engaging in psychosexual therapy. GP’s are equipped to check if there is a physical cause that requires medical attention as opposed to psychological treatment.
